Why hide them you ask?
I asked myself same question when i saw on other sites they hide their affiliate links too.So i looked around to find out more.
You should know that Hiding your affiliate links increase the CTR(click trough) because people will not see a long link making no sense, they will see a link like this instead: http://yourdomain.com/web/link.php.
It can make visitors not clicking it as they don’t know where they will be taken. Hiding your affiliate links with a link that looks like it goes to somewhere in your website is far more attractive for someone to click.
A good think cloaking a link like this http://yourdomain.com/web/link.php is that if the affiliate code changes, you can change it too very quick.
Another good thing about hiding your affiliate links is that Google doesn’t like sites full of affiliate links ,Google see this like a way to promote something that will not help your visitors.Hiding your affiliate link will close this problem as the Url will look like is going to another part of your website.
So let me show you step-by-step how to do Hide our affiliate links.
1.First you must create a new folder.Name it short.Short is better. There will be placed your links.
2. Now create a php file that will re-direct to your affiliate link. Open up notepad and paste the following code in the blank file: <? header(“Location: <em>youraffiliatelink</em>“); ?>
Replace youraffiliatelink with the link that is provided by your affiliate network. Simply extract the link that is after the a href=” and finishes before “. Once you have done this you need to save the file as a .php . Name it something nice like if you refer to free icons name it geticons.php….
3. Upload the newly saved .php file to the folder you created on step 1.
4.Now after you uploaded the file to your folder,it’s time to redirect visitors.Type http://yourdomain.com/web/link.php into the browser an you’ll see you are redirected to your affiliate link! Now all you have to do is replace that long link from your affiliate code with the link you created and you’re done.:)
To Hide another link just follow this steps. If you encounter any problems contact me,I’ll be happy to help you:)
Of course there are some other methods to hide your affiliate link,I’ll tell you about them too in a later post.

Google and its limitless blogging laws have been the inspiration for so many creative ideas, and this one numbers among them. I don’t recall having run across this particular one on any blogs yet. I’ll be sure and make good use of it. Thanks!

I really like this idea, but how do visitors of a website feel when they click a link that they think is an internal link and then end up on a different website? I don’t know as if they’d come back to my website after feeling as thought I violated their trust… anyone have any thoughts on this?
TwistUrl.com is a cool site that lets you take long URLs and turn them into very short ones. like
http://www.twisturl.com/Senior-Dating (example)
How many times have you received an email with a huge link to a URL or had to send one to someone causing the recipient to have to cut and paste it back together?
TwistUrl.com eliminates that problem. Create a Twist URL that won’t break in email postings and will never expire.
UNIQUE FEATURE .:
Twisturl.com Supports Custom tags or keywords and send an e-mal to user to monitor statistics.

Thanks.
http://www.URLPOT.Com is another great way to hide your affiliate links. i.e http://www.URLPOT.Com/Your Name
Services that I know being used by some affiliate marketers:
1. TinyURL.com
2. URLFreeze.com
3. TwistUrl.com
4. redirectmagic.com
5. shorturl.com
6. yournewurl.com
So, when using this we are scaring off the novice, and aren’t doing anything to protect against the savvy. Therefore I wouldn’t recommend using those.
