How NOT to Run a Gaming Contest…

So I just noticed BattleForums’ new anniversary contest that popped up, and it looks like they put a lot of time into getting some actually good prizes (there’s a ps3). Sure they’re a reputable site with like tens of thousands of members, but they sure don’t know how to run a fricken contest to say the least.

Lesson of the day kids: NEVER make a $3,000 contest last for 10 days, while no one knows about it except you. It’s just a waste of money, seriously. Take a look at the visit counter at the bottom of their page:

(I’ll bet you anything it’s just their staff team with their mothers that visited that page)

So take it as good news or bad news. Heck, I’m not even going to bother linking to the site. But if you do win, just remember who told you about it .

So let’s look at it from a normal person point of view:

- They have a 10 day contest with $3k in prizes..
- Only the staff team and their mothers actually know about it..
- All of the sponsors are unrelated to gaming, most of which are… poker and hosting companies..
- It takes 20 minutes to find an actual link back to their site..
- It fails in every aspect..

Good luck whoever owns the site. And happy birthday BF .
