Mesothelioma

Mesothelioma is the carcinogenic effect of the cells in the mesothelium whose role is to produce a protective covering for the internal organs and when someone is exposed to any form of asbestos these harmful elements get lodged in the lungs. This is most prevalent among people working in the asbestos related industries. It is not only the workers in the mines who get affected but anyone who comes in contact with them, for this spreads through clothing. If you have been exposed to any form of asbestos you should go in for a thorough check like CT scans, MRI scans and X-rays.

Usually this disease takes ages to develop. If mesothelioma is detected in the first stage then a surgery of the tumor and use of radiation and chemotherapy are good methods to check its growth. If you are in the second stage then the areas around the tumor get affected and the treatment makes you very weak. At stage three the cancer spreads to the lymph nodes and any sort of surgery is futile. Stage four is the last stage where the cancerous cells affect all the parts and organs of the body and the brain too.
