Nearly all  stores has to have some sort of retail pos systems. There’s an entirely field out there of people who distribute, service, install and configure POS systems, which happens to be one area where I don’t have very much experience in at all.

A POS system (POS standing for Point of Sale) is a specialised computer/payment processing system which is geared towards the particular industry you’re targeting. These systems can keep track of all of your products, scan it, price it, print bills… or it can be utilised in the restaurant industry to take orders, print up tickets for the kitchen, print your bill and process your payment. They can be really elaborated and high end, or very simple.

Since the needs of each seller are so varied and so specific, software for each is also diverse. Therefore, sellers 1st set up minimum necessary hardware like cash drawers and automated bill printers. This is supported by software that acts the interface between the physical devices and the computer OSs. Once the primary POS system is installed, sellers progress to more sophisticated systems that are cut to the particular requires of their particular lines of business.
